Basketball Game

In December, we all went to a men's basketball game.  The Bulldogs have been so much better this year, and I was glad we could go and enjoy a win.

Charlie's favorite part was, of course, watching Hairy Dawg and Spike and the popcorn.

Rosie enjoyed sitting in my lap and eating the graham cracker I had in the diaper bag.

And once the popcorn ran out, Charlie started on the graham crackers, too.

But then he got a big treat.  Marc took him around to meet Hairy Dawg and Spike.  He talked about meeting them for days!

Little Prodigies Christmas Parties

For Christmas 2013, both Charlie and Rosie had holiday parties at the same time. We started in Rosie's room.  She was so happy to see us, and then so mad that we were putting her in a chair and not holding her.

Being a good dad, Marc would pick her up, chair and all.

Rosie was so mad that we weren't holding her that she wouldn't even eat.  That, my friends, is the most angry Rosie can get.

Then someone ran into the room to tell us Charlie's was about to perform their Christmas songs, so we hightailed it down the hall and got there just in time. I was really proud of how well Charlie did with his sign language on We Wish You a Merry Christmas.

And then Charlie's class had a book exchange. Charlie picked the one with the best bow and got one of his favorite books - Go Dog Go.  Now he and Rosie can each have their own copy!

Then we ran back to Rosie's room, where she had gotten over her anger and could enjoy her party, too.

Swinging

This girl LOVES to swing.  She will giggle and scream with delight the entire time.  It never gets old.

It's Mike!

Charlie was really proud of the picture his daddy drew of Mike Wazowski, and so was I!  But as you can tell from the photobomb over Charlie's shoulder, Marc thought he could do better. (He's crazy, right? That's pretty darn impressive, especially on a magnet drawing board.)

Cookie Decorating

During the Holiday season, Publix had some Christmas Cookie decorating kits.  It came with an iced cookie, gel icing, sprinles and candy balls.  It made for an easy and fun afternoon of decorating cookies. (Becuase I did try to make my own, and the results, while tasty, were a big cookie mess.)

Visit with Santa

We saw Santa twice in December, which was a good thing since our first visit did not go very well.

Once Charlie saw Santa, he froze and decided he did not want to talk to him.  So we left.  But one we walked outside, Charlie reconsidered and decided he was a brave boy and would talk with Santa.  We went back inside and Charlie asked Santa for a red car and a blue car, and pink and purple cars for Rosie.

And as you can see, Rosie was NOT having any of it.

Athens Holiday Parade

So technically, it is the Downtown Parade of Lights.  Athens is nothing if not politically correct! No matter the name, we had a blast. A bunch of parents and children who all attend Little Prodigies packed into two large booths at Mellow Mushroom for some post-school, pre-parade dinner and then we all gathered around the minivan to watch the parade.  We were towards the end of the route, but Junkman's Daughter provided us with "snow" while we waited.

And we were grateful for the "snow" to put us in a winter mood, since it was in the 70s during the first week of December.  (Hard to believe it was that warm with the winter we've had!)

Rosie and Baby James, who really isn't a baby anymore

Getting a good view

And it begins!

Does your town's parade have the rock band Cracker play on a float?  Just us? (Full disclosure - the lead singer is a professor in UGA's Music Business Program.)

Charlie and Carter took it all in.

Enjoying the parade and it's lollipops with their friend Parker

And what Christmas parade is complete without stormtroopers?

We cheered loudest for the camel's poop scoopers

And finally, Santa!
