What I Did on Summer Vacation
Stay inside because of the rain.
We went to SSI last Wednesday for a long beach weekend. I was looking forward to Lullabelle's first beach trip and was anxious to see if she loved it as much as Sandy. I couldn't wait for mornings on the beach reading books, afternoons shopping and napping, and evenings of good food and movies.
Sadly, it rained A LOT and we stayed inside. And our favorite casual place - Gnat's Landing - was closed for cleaning. Marc and I did see Wanted (loved it!!) and Hellboy II (could have waited for the dollar theater) and relaxed.
And Saturday, we drove down to Little Talbot Island in Jacksonville where Marc participated in a sprint triathalon - quarter-mile swim, 10 mile bike and 3 mile run. And he came in third in his division. WooHoo! Marc is disappointed, but I was so proud. He shaved three minutes off last year's time and would have won but for a bottleneck at the turns during the swim. Marc is also not training for sprints, he's working towards the Louisville Ironman. I took some video with our little used videocamera and as soon as I figure it out, I'll post it here.
And as a side note, Little Talbot Island is a beautiful place! Very natural and undeveloped. They have camping there that I'd love to try sometime.

Hudson in the Pool
Hudson had a great time swimming around the pool, and he is getting really good at moving around in the water.

New Best Friends
Lullabelle and Bowen!
Bowen took a little while to get used to the dogs, but once he did, he couldn't be stopped. He squealed with joy when he would see Lullabelle, and then he would try and pet her. It turned out more of of a soft smack, but LB was so patient and didn't mind a bit. Just stood there until Bowen wasfinished (or rolled over for a belly rub. ) She does love some attention!

Yay for Nephews!
The nephews traveled to Athens this weekend to spend some time with the McMottes. It was a lot of fun, but Marc, Sandy. Lullabelle and I are SO tired. You all know this, but wow, those kids will take it out of you - I don't know how all you parents do it everyday. I'll tell you all about the weekend tomorrow, once we've recovered!

What keeps Mary so busy?
Work!
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my job. There is just a lot to do right now. Check out the picture I took on my blackberry today. My desk looks pretty clean - believe it or not. But I do have 5 (!!) to do piles.
This is what I need to work on in my office - the "to be filed" piles. The one on your right is up to my knee. Really, it's like a year and a half of filing.

Stupid Internet!
We've had computer issues lately in the McMotte household. More specifically - connectivity issues. First there was a problem with the modem. Then it was an IP issue. Now the wireless doesn't work. And since I am too busy (and too responsible :-) ) to post at work, you haven't heard about Marc's trip to Pensacola or his learning to ride a motorcycle, or my overdue post on the Peabody Awards. Sorry, folks. Hopefully things will be up and working soon!
