Ten Years Ago Today
I adopted Sandy Nell McDonald - one of the best days of my life!

I went to the Clayton County Humane Society and in the middle of a bunch of dogs yapping and jumping, Sandy was just sitting there watching. The workers asked if I'd like to take her for a walk outside and I said yes. And once she was outside in the grass, she peed and pooped. I knew this was the dog for me! She was 2 or 3 years old when I adopted her, and she had recently had a litter of puppies, but only one survived. They weren't sure of her breed, but I have always thought she is a Corgi/Golden Retriever mix.

She is still scared of thunderstorms, fireworks, loud bangs and laundry. And when she is scared she likes to hide in small, dark places. But her hearing isn't quite as sharp as it used to be. I've actually caught her sleeping through thunderstorms instead of waking me up and shaking for hours.
And I think she fell in love with Marc before I did. And I knew he was a great guy when I saw him with Sandy.

She doesn't like to cuddle much, so it's special when she does. She gets a summer buzz cut most of the year, but I let her get fuzzy and furry in the winter. And when she is really tired, she sticks out her tongue. That's my favorite Sandy look!

Happy Doggie Birthday Sandy!

The After Party
I completely forgot that I had these on the camera. . .
After the homecoming game, we came home with wings, chips and beer and hung out with the Thompsons and the Alexanders. It was a perfect way to unwind after such a busy week and lots of fun. The dogs had more fun than we did.
Lullabelle got to cuddle with Sean and give Trip kisses.

I Can Tell You Exactly What They're Thinking
Lullabelle: I love when Sandy and I cuddle! I wish. . . zzzz. . .
Sandy: Stop laughing and taking pictures and get her off me.

Lullabelle: So comfy. I love to cuddle! I hope. . .zzzz. . .
Sandy: Dangit, moving didn't help. Seriously, get her off me.

Good News!
We got a message from the vet earlier this evening, and Sandy's growth was not cancer - YAY!

Uh-Oh
A couple of weeks ago, Marc and I smelled something funny in the house. So we were checking hineys to make sure everyone was clean (always a fun job) when we noticed a lump on Sandy's tail. It is right at the base, where the tail meets the body.
Today the vet removed the lump and sent off for testing. (Sandy had a cancerous lump removed about 6 years ago and we are hoping this isn't a recurrence.)
The vet said Sandy did very well and everything looks good incision-wise. And while Sandy Nell is still a bit woozy from the anesthetic, I am sure she will be to her usual cranky, loving self in no time!

Was the Easter Bunny Good to You?
The McMottes were treated very well by the Bunny this year. We didn't get a picture of Marc's basket; he tore into the Power Bars and peanut butter cups very quickly.
I got my favorites, and the baskets for the girls each contained something special.
Sandy received some rawhide strips that are easy for her to chew.
And Lullabelle got a stuffed animal possum. Odd, but she loves it!
But all the Easter excitement made for some tired bunnies.
