Baseball

 The July 4th weekend was a cool one, and we had a free afternoon.  So Marc and I decided to head into DC for a Nationals game.  We took the Metro, which Charlie loved. . .

. . .until we went through a tunnel.

Our seats were at the top of a section, so we had a great breeze! Rosie and Charlie were much more interested in the food, though

And our vewi from the seats wasn't bad, either!

Going Crabbing

At the end of June, we went over to Annapolis to have our first Maryland crabbing adventure.  Some work friends invited us and we had a blast.  Charlie and Rosie were very smitten with my co-worker's son Mack.  Charlie loved him SO much that he renamed one of his stuffed animals Mack once we got home and had me write Mack on the tag of the animal in sharpie!

Crabbing was fun.  We didn't catch many but Charlie loved checking the lines.  It was more simple than I expected - we tied a raw chicken leg to a string, that was tied to the dock.  When the line was taut, we would slowly pull up the string and catch the crab in a net. 

Nationals Game

One of my co-workers had some extra Nationals tickets, so we jumped at the chance to take the whole family!

We had a great time, and lasted through the 7th inning.  But the kids' favorite part was the food.

Charlie's First Nationals Game

 

Being next to DC, Marc has become a big Nationals fan. So he decided to take Charlie along to a game one afternoon.  Now they are both Nationals fans!  Although Charlie may just like the big pretzels and the batting helmets.

Charlie also got a lego Bryce Harper, and he quickly became Charlie's favorite player.

By the seventh inning, Charlie started fading a bit. But he is now a fan, too!

Maryland Day

Every year in the Spring, the University of Maryland hosts Maryland Day,  a "huge community outreach event when the campus opens its doors and invites the public to a FREE, fun-filled day of learning, exploration, and discovery. The day offers more than 400 festivities including exhibits, workshops, hands-on demonstrations, performances, cross-campus tours, lectures, petting zoos, and athletic events"

For 2015, Charlie was at a birthday party so Rosie and I went to campus (along with Flat Stanley) to see what this was all about.  And the description was correct, it is huge.  We only saw a fraction of what was offered.

We started on McKeldin Mall, where Rosie fished turtles out of the fountain and won a green turtle for her efforts.

 Then we went to the Public Health booth, where Rosie jumped through some hoops.

 

 

Our division hosted a VIP suite, so Rosie and I stopped by. And I was surprised that my shy girl was very excited to meet the Dance Team.

 Rosie and Flat Stanley sampled the Maryland Day ice cream flavor.

 Rosie let the Dance Team paint her face.

   

 

 There was a ton more to do, but Rosie started to get tired so we headed home.  Seems that Maryland Day is also exhausting!
