Maryland Day

Every year in the Spring, the University of Maryland hosts Maryland Day,  a "huge community outreach event when the campus opens its doors and invites the public to a FREE, fun-filled day of learning, exploration, and discovery. The day offers more than 400 festivities including exhibits, workshops, hands-on demonstrations, performances, cross-campus tours, lectures, petting zoos, and athletic events"

For 2015, Charlie was at a birthday party so Rosie and I went to campus (along with Flat Stanley) to see what this was all about.  And the description was correct, it is huge.  We only saw a fraction of what was offered.

We started on McKeldin Mall, where Rosie fished turtles out of the fountain and won a green turtle for her efforts.

Then we went to the Public Health booth, where Rosie jumped through some hoops.

Our division hosted a VIP suite, so Rosie and I stopped by. And I was surprised that my shy girl was very excited to meet the Dance Team.

Rosie and Flat Stanley sampled the Maryland Day ice cream flavor.

Rosie let the Dance Team paint her face.

There was a ton more to do, but Rosie started to get tired so we headed home.  Seems that Maryland Day is also exhausting!

Flat Stanley Goes to an NCAA Tournament Game

Flat Stanley also got to join us at a first round game of the NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament.

We were able to sit in a suite to watch the game.  The kids were much more excited by the cookies than the basketball. But Flat Stanley seemed to enjoy the game.

Flat Stanley Goes to Chicago

Flat Stanley also went with me to the Big 10 Men's Basketball tournament in Chicago.  I stayed in the Palmer House Hilton, which was a beautiful place.  Check out the ceiling!

Since I was in Chicago, I had to get some deep dish pizza.

Maryland had an event at the restaurant of a trustee to celebrate our first year in the Big 10 Conference. In the crowd were Athletic Director Kevin Anderson and Voice of Maryland Johnny Holliday.  They enjoyed meeting Flat Stanley.

One morning, Flat Stanley and I went to find The Bean.  It was really cool!

I didn't stay for the entire tournament, but was fortunate to be able and attend several games.  I only saw Maryland win.  Go Terps!

The next morning, we had a breakfast "tailgate" before that day's game.  Flat Stanley got to meet the Maryland cheerleaders and Testudo.

Flat Stanley Watches Gymnastics

My nephew Bowen sent us Flat Stanley, who went on several adventures with us, one of which was to a Maryland gymnastics meet. Go Terps!
