What Lullabelle Ate

When Marc came home from Earth Day lunch with the kids, he found Lullabelle hiding in his closet upstairs.  He also found about 9 spots of doggie vomit and then sent me a picture of a pile of fabric asking me what it was.  I replied it was my new scarf that I had put on the ironing board to iron before I wore it.  His response? "Its not a scarf anymore."  Seems that Lullabelle had pulled my scarf off the ironing board, eaten parts of it and then thrown them up.  So we got the number of a good vet and got Lullabelle in the next morning.

You see this giraffe that Rosie is playing with? It was on my brother's Easter basket for years and had come out at our house this Easter and stayed.  Last I saw it was under the couch.

For some reason, Lullabelle ate it.  Swallowed it whole! There were no teeth marks when it was removed from Lullabelle's belly, along with the majority of my scarf.

We don't know why she ate it, Lullabelle isn't a dog that eats stuff. And she hasn't done anything like this since.

Lullabelle Update

Lullabelle is doing really well.  She had the initial tumor and tissue were removed from her hip and another Mast Cell tumor was taken out of her side.  There were two other spots that were suspicious so our vet removed those as well.  Thursday she was, of course, very dopey.  But as the weekend wore on she came out of the fog and was her normal doggie self.  Other than the nasty stitches on her side you would never know anything was wrong!

Lullabelle Love

Y'all please keep sweet Lulla in your thoughts today.  We found a cancerous mast cell tumor (about the size of a quarter) on her left rear hip and she is having it removed today.  It has been fast growing and in the couple of days since we noticed it, it has gotten noticeably larger.  We are hoping for an isolated, low grade tumor with clean margins.

Lullabelle has had a mast cell tumor before, that time on her belly.  The margins weren't clean and our wonderful Vet Dr. Cox had to remove a lot of tissue to finally get all the cancer out.

And as luck would have it, the kiddos decided Lullabelle needed some extra love last night.

Show and Tell with Lullabelle

April was pet month in Charlie's class and so we brought in Lullabelle early in the month. She was the first dog to visit and Charlie was so proud to show off his doggie!

Miss Athena had everyone answer questions about Lullabelle.  "Is she a cat?" "Nooooo!" " Is she a dog?" "Yeeeessss!" And after they talked about Lullabelle, everyone got to pet her.

Charlie and his other bestie Jack

Everyone LOVED Lullabelle and she was just thrilled to have everyone paying attention to her.

And everyone who owned one wore their Batman shirts.  Miss Athena and her Bat Men!

Bed Time for Charlie

Usually Marc gives Charlie a bath and gets ready for bed while I clean up the living room and get ready for Rosie's bath.  Once Charlie is ready for bed, Rosie and I come in to say good night.  He will often say "Mama Lay Down!" or "Mama Bed!" and point to the pillow.  But this night he said, "Rosie Lay Down!"

He just loved cuddling and giving her good night kisses.

And if there is cuddling, Lullabelle wants to be a part of it, too!

Meeting Lullabelle

Since Rosie's arrival at home, Lullabelle has been a most attentative Mama Dog.  She stays by her side and gets very concerned when she hears her new baby crying.

And she lets us know about dirty diapers.

Old Pictures I Forgot to Post, Vol. 1

These are from December , when Marc and I were in Pensacola.

Sandy usually HATES to be in a crate of any kind, but she wondered in on her own for a nap.

Dogs in hats are always funny!

A little Christmas nap, interrupted by a picture.

She Will Sleep Anywhere

On the side of the couch. . .

Or on top of your crocs.
