One Year Ago. . .
. . .we were on the beach eating cupcakes. A year ago today we officially became the McMottes. It was a wonderful day with wonderful family and friends.
This past weekend, Marc and I went down to St. Simons to celebrate our first anniversary, relax and get some sun.

Party Animals
The McMottes have been out on the town for the past two Saturday nights. And I think I need a week to recover from one night. And I was the designated driver! I am getting old. . .
Last week, we headed to The Melting Point in Athens to check out The Highballs. They are fantastic! It was an evening of 80's hits - and the band even dressed the part. Marc couldn't really dance due to the back, but he was itchin' to get on the dance floor and do the Sprinkler. They will be back in May, and we are hoping to go and boogie down.
Our dear friend Don, however, did a great job transforming into Gloria Manderbilt. He was quite elegant for a man in a wig :-)

This past Saturday, we were joined by the Mireckis for the 20th annual Boybutante Ball. It is a fundraiser for AIDS Athens and a lot of the folks with whom Marc works are a part of the event.
I am always a little disappointed by Boybutante. If you are going to be in drag, go all out. Wax your back! Wax your chest! And shave the stubble, people!

Welcome Boone and Sophie!
My cousin Mandy wasn't due for another month, but Saturday she gave birth to her beautiful twins. Baby boy Boone was born at 1:18pm and weighed 7lbs, 2 oz and his sister Sophie followed close behind at 1:20, weighing 6lbs.
While Mandy wasn't due until mid-May, Sophie and Boone are not premature. The doctors said by their measurements they are 39 weeks and are fully developed.
Congrats Mandy and Larry! And Weldon, I know you will be a great big brother.

Was the Easter Bunny Good to You?
The McMottes were treated very well by the Bunny this year. We didn't get a picture of Marc's basket; he tore into the Power Bars and peanut butter cups very quickly.
I got my favorites, and the baskets for the girls each contained something special.
Sandy received some rawhide strips that are easy for her to chew.
And Lullabelle got a stuffed animal possum. Odd, but she loves it!
But all the Easter excitement made for some tired bunnies.

RIP, My Dear Lawnmower
Tonight I finally ran the lawnmower into the ground.
Literally.
I have mistreated and misused this poor Poulan mower. It was good to me - mowing over gravel and red clay in Stockbridge and then grass, clay and sticks in Athens. It has battery that always needed to be charged before I could cut the grass, and the tire that kept going flat. It had paint poured on it and long ago lost the cover for the headlights.
Last weekend, when I was ready to mow, the battery was dead yet again. Marc offered to get the gun and put the mower out of its misery.
And tonight it couldn't take my abuse any longer.
As I was cutting the grass in the front yard, the axle to which the wheel is attached broke, sending the left front tire rolling down the hill and the front left part of the mower into the ground. And sending the guys across the street into hysterics. As I walked to the door to get Marc, all I heard was howling laughter, with the occasional, "Did you see that?!" and "It rolled down the hill - it just kept going!"
They stopped laughing long enough to help Marc and I get it into the garage - Marc still can't lift anything more than 5 pounds.
I am thinking about calling a lawn service. . .

Not Funny . . .
I wish this was an April Fool's Day prank. This morning, Marc walked out of the gym (after his first post-surgery swim) and found that someone had backed into his lovely, new(ish) 2008 Nissan and driven away without so much as a note. Thanks for denting and scratching our car and leaving us to pay for the repairs.
