Rosie had her 18 month checkup today. Developmentally she is ahead of the curve, saying lots of words and following more extensive directions. She eats a lot and feeds herself well. She is showing an independent streak, instigating fights with her brother, and caring for her babies, which she calls "didies." She loves shoes and tries really hard to put them on herself. She knows most of her body parts and is learning animal sounds.
No shots this time, although Rosie was anticipating them the entire visit! She fussed and held onto Marc tightly as soon as we left the waiting room.
She weighs 22.4 pounds (25th percentile), which is only 0.4 more than she weird at 15 months. But she grew 2 inches! Now at 31 and a half inches, she did indeed have the growth spurt that Dr. Baker anticipated. Her head only grew a little bit and is now 18.75 inches.
I had a mommy fail moment when Dr. Baker saw that our sweet girl has an ear infection. I thought the low grade fever and the tugging at her ear was caused by the last of her canine teeth, which broke through her gums on Friday. When Rosie has teethed, those have been her symptoms. We have even taken her in thinking she had an ear infection and it was just a new tooth. Now she is on cefdinir and will hopefully be a healthy girl for Christmas!
