Fun at the Waterpark

On our second day, Charlie, Grandma Dot and I met Aunt Nancy at the water park in St. Simons.  We also got to spend time with my cousins Christy and Lindsey and their boys Jesse and Hinson.  (Trey was at summer camp and missed all the fun)

I am not a big fan of a water park, and I had not visited the new park in SSI.  But I was pleasantly surprised at how nice Neptune Park is.

There is a pool with a gradual slant to it, and Charlie had a BLAST crawling into the water.  He has no fear and loves to splash around.

And it was such fun to see Christy and Jesse . . .

. . .and Hinson, too!



Swimming with Grandma

The activity area is nice and small but full of fun.  Jesse and Hinson had a great time.  I look forward to next year, when Charlie can really enjoy it.

Beach!

Last week, Charlie and I went down to St. Simons and met Grandma Dot at the beach. While we missed Marc and Papa Kirby, we had a good time. 

This wasn't Charlie's first trip to SSI - we went down when he was about a month old - but this is the first time he could really have fun.

We got down there mid day on Wednesday, and then I had a little work to do.  But after dinner, we made sure that we got our feet (and bottoms) wet.

Fun Folks in Pensacola

While we were in Florida, Grandma Janice and Papa chuck got in some good Charlie time.  They went for walks, played and read books.  Why don't I have any pictures? Becuase while they were having a jolly good time, I was able to read a book (The Hunger Games, to which I am now addicted) and Marc and I were able to run errands, visit with friends and see a movie!  (Super 8 - really good!)

I did get a couple of pictures of Charlie visit with Mimi LaMotte, although he slept through a lot of the visit.

And Charlie got to play with Godfather Tom, who fried us up some yummy fish and shrimp.

Universty of West Florida CAB

Last weekend, we all traveled down to Pensacola. And man, packing for two dogs, two adults and a toddler is almost more than the swagger wagon can handle.  But the mini van got us all safely to Florida so Marc could attend a celebration in honor of his advisor, Joy.  When Marc was a student at UWF, Joy was the advisor of the Campus Activities Board, which is basically the same position Marc currently holds.  She recently retired, so former members of the CAB and students who were in the grad program with Marc all got together with her.

Joy was a formative figure in Marc's life, and I am so glad we could be there!

Party!

Our dear, dear friends Ed and Katherine had a cookout the day before Marc's birthday, and they were kind enough to let me surprise Marc with a cake.  His choice? Publix vanilla cake with white icing.

Marc wasn't really surprised, despite my best efforts, but he liked it just the same.

 

And Charlie made sure to wear an outfit that would show his love for Daddy.

Lunching in Conyers

Conyers is half way between Athens and Hampton, and is therefore the perfect place to meet for lunch with Grandma Dot and Papa Kirby.  So off to the Cracker Barrel we went!
