So What Happened?

We've got a  healthy baby who might one day have high blood pressure.

The tests revealed that Charlie has a narrowing of the aorta as it enters the top of the heart.  If you look at the gray rendering of the heart in the flyer above,  the narrowing is highlighted in green.  This could cause high blood pressure, and if that were to happen, a little surgery would be needed to fix the narrowed aorta.

This happens in about 1 in 1000 kids, mostly male, and is a genetic condition.  Marc, despite his tremendous athleticism and affection for broccoli, has had high blood pressure.  As does my dad, so Charlie appears to get this honestly.  It won't interfere with him playing sports.  And if surgery is needed, the doctor said it is easier than having his tonsils out. (Which might happen down the road as well!)

What We Are Doing Today

Getting an echo cardiogram!

While at the doctor for our third check up with this awful cold and never ending ear infection, Dr. Baker detected a heart murmur.  So Charlie is visiting a pediatric cardiologist today.

And speaking of the never ending ear infection, it's in both ears again and bad.  This time Charlie got a shot of antibiotics, and he'll get another one tomorrow.  If this doesn't clear it up, we move on to tubes in his ears.

Charlie's New Toy

We have a new place for Charlie K to play.

My new favorite consignment store in Athens, ReBlossom, got a Jumperoo and posted a picture of it on Facebook.  As soon as I saw it, I knew where I'd be on my lunch break!

Charlie loves it!  In fact, most pictures in it are now action shots.

UWF Lip Sync Pictures

I haven't yet watched the video from Marc's comedy bits from the Lip Sync Competition at UWF, but judging from these shots, it is very entertaining.

More Comedy

February was Comedy Month around here.  Before the SLO Festival, Marc had a week of touring.  It was nuts! He performed at East Carolina University one night, at the Comedy Cabana in Myrtle Beach the next, and then he mc'ed the Lip Sync Competition at West Florida University.  He is a true touring comic!

More Sun, More Swinging

These are much like the other photos we've posted from the park.  But Charlie and Marc are having so much fun - and have such great expressions - that I want to share.

SLO Comedy Festival

Last month, Marc performed at the SLO Comedy Festival in California. We were SO excited when Marc was accepted into the festival, and he was one of only four from outside of California. He was considered an "up and comer" so didn't get his picture in the program. But he performed three times and had really great sets. He said San Luis Obispo was a really cool town, and I wish Charlie and I could have gone with him. But thanks to Skype, Charlie was able to talk to his dad every day!

San Luis Obispo is between San Francisco and LA, being just a bit closer to LA. But because of traffic, we decided that Marc should fly in and out of San Francisco. He had some extra time and got to see the Golden Gate Bridge.

Here's a bit from the show - enjoy!

Sick Boy

Remember Charlie's ear infection? It even made him look sick. He shows how tired he is or how poor he feels with his eyes.  I tried to get a picture of what I was seeing, but he didn't look bad.

So I turned off the flash.  The picture is not great, but look at the bags under those eyes. That's how you can tell he's a sick, tired, cranky baby.

Saturday in the Park

Again, loved the swing.  But the slide? Not so much.

What We Ate Last Week

Peaches!

Which he really liked, until he started taking medicine for the double ear infection.  Then he turned down all food.  No carrots, no apples, no pears, no peaches, no squash.  He was milk only for a couple of days.  But after easing back with some banana and sweet potato, Charlie is on his way back!
