Farewell Mireckis

Today our dear friends, Ed and Katherine Mirecki, leave Athens.  Ed has taken a terrific job at the University of Washington-Tacoma, and we are so excited for them.  At the same time, we are selfish and terribly sad.  Ed was Marc's boss at UGA and more importantly, a great friend.  Katherine has been one of my best friends in Athens and has loved on Charlie like crazy.

So this weekend, the Thompsons held a going away party.  Charlie and I only stayed for an hour, and Marc came home much, much later.  It. was a very fun night full of memories

The Ceremony

No matter where the Mireckis live, they will always have a seat at the Thompsons' bar

20 Weeks

I am 20 weeks pregnant today.  Half way there! And it has gone much faster this time around.  I would think with all the vomit and the exhaustion, it would be dragging.  But I guess having a toddler makes all time speed by.

Charlie has suffered this week with another nasty rash on his booty.  No amount of diaper rash or jock itch cream stopped it, and Marc, I and the daycare workers had to deal with a little man screaming in pain any time we thought about changing him.  Marc did yeoman's work cleaning a little bottom on a boy who did want to sit down in a bathtub.  Thursday it looked better and then Friday, the skin broke and bled bringing on a whole new round of wailing.

Friday, as Charlie was screaming, I noticed he is getting another tooth - a molar this time!

Beanbag

Marc brought his Ohio State beanbag down from the mancave and Charlie loves to sit in it and watch Classical Baby.

It's a Girl!

I had an ultrasound on Tuesday and It showed that Baby is healthy, growing and female!

And much like her older brother, she does not like to show her face.

Charlie's Favorite Part of Disney

We stayed at the All-Star Movies hotel at Disney, and Charlie was in love with the Dalmatian pup.

Magic Kingdom

After running  39.3 miles and a long nap for all of us, we went to the Magic Kingdom.  Sadly, we didn't have enough time here.  We need to go back and hit this park first thing in the morning so we can get on more rides and not be so tired and sore.

Charlie did get to ride the Dumbo ride and a Winnie the Pooh ride.  For both, he was very attentative and took it all in.

19 Weeks

I am 19 weeks pregnant today.  For a four-day week, this was a looooong one.  I had about a day and a half of vomiting everything I ate or drank - it started once I woke up and the anti-nausea pills didn't do a thing.  And it takes a lot out of me.  But I am feeling much better now.  I think maybe Baby was having a growth spurt and the hormones associated with the growth made me out of whack.

I've had to break out the maternity clothes this week.  I am finally looking like a pregnant lady and not just a girl with a gut wearing too-tight clothes.  It's interesting because I was able to make it 5 more weeks this time in my regular clothes than I did with Charlie.

Marc has come down with a cold that he can't seem to shake, and it is making him more worn out than normal.  But that hasn't stopped him from swimming a few laps, running a couple of miles or going to the gym.  Charlie's internal schedule has gotten a bit off kilter. Usually his first poop of the morning doesn't happen until around 9am but this week he has been waking up at 5:00 or 6:00am (instead of 7:00 or 8:00) in the morning with a dirty diaper.  Hopefully it will get back on track so he and Marc can get a little more rest!  (I'm up at that time anyway, but in the shower and getting dressed.)

Working up the energy for an afternoon at the Magic Kingdom.

Animal Kingdom

As I mentioned, while Marc ran the full marathon in the morning, Charlie and I went to Animal Kingdom.

Of course, Charlie found some ducks.

After we saw Marc, we rode a ride in Dinoland.

Charlie was facinated with the lever that moved us up and down, until it started to move.  Then he was so still as he watched the world go 'round.

The Full - Making a Goofy Marc

On Sunday, Marc ran the full marathon, completing the Goofy Race and a Half Challenge.

The starting line

About halfway through the marathon

While Marc was running, Charlie and I went to the Animal Kingdom.  We were about to get on a ride when around the corner came Marc at mile 17.

Seeing us along the route

Getting encouragement from Charlie

And he's off! Nine more miles.

Upset that Daddy left.

While we waited for Marc at the finish line, Charlie planned our next vacation.  It involves ducks.

Disney Hollywood Studio

After lunch and a nap (for all of us!) we went to Disney Hollywood Studio.

There's really not much there that Charlie can do.  We went to the Honey I Shrunk the Kids playground, but Charlie was the youngest one there.  We had to watch him carefully to make sure an older child didn't run over him

His favorite was a slide that he went down over and over and over and over again.  One of us had to be at the base to catch him and the other had to be at the top to help the older kids be more careful with the little man.

And when we left, there was much protesting.

Marc had gotten a fast-pass to ride the Star Wars ride, and while he rode, Charlie and I enjoyed a very good funnel cake.  Seriously, he ate half of it.

The only "ride" at this park for Charlie was the tram to and from the parking lot, which was a lot of fun for him.

Pulling Mama's hair is fun!
