Flowers in my Hair

Last week I was in San Francisco for a dinner that the President was hosting. It was a short trip, and I hope to go back with Marc and explore the city someday, becuse - other than an airport fiasco - I really enjoyed my time there.

The day of the dinner, I had a few free hours, so I hoped on a cable car and took it from one end of the city to the other. (That's the way to go, because the city is SO hilly, it would be tough to navigate on foot on by bicycle.) I hopped on near Union Square and took it down to Fisherman's Wharf where I had lunch. You know how there are hot dog vendors on the streets of NYC or Chicago? Well, in SF they have crab vendors. I was in shellfish heaven!

From there, I saw Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge. I didn't have enough time to actually explore either place, but I got pictures!

Fun with Neck Cones

Remember when Sandy had surgery a few weeks ago and had to wear the cone around her head to keep her from licking the incision? Well, Marc tried to show Sandy it wasn't that bad.

But I think he decided it was that bad.

Where Did He Go?

Before we drove back to Athens from the beach, we made a stop for lunch. Marc ran in to order, while I stayed in the car with the dogs. Lullabelle sat like this the entire time, anxiously waiting for Marc to return.

Sandy, on the otherhand, had no worries at all.

Watchdogs

The girls love the door at the condo, They can watch the world go by and alert us to danger. You know - cats, squirrels, neighbors with mullets.

How Ya Feelin'?

Hot Hot Hot!

We came down to St. Simons for the weekend and it is brutally humid and hot down here. Yesterday we got out to the beach a bit later (close to noon) and only lasted 45 minutes. Today was better - we were out there at 9:30am and there was a breeze - so we made it for two hours. I can't remember it ever being this steamy down here!

Good News!

We got a message from the vet earlier this evening, and Sandy's growth was not cancer - YAY!

My Trusty Ford

When I returned from the grocery store yesterday, I noticed I had hit a milestone.

I hope I get at least another 50,000 miles out of my lovely Escape. (I am knocking on wood as I type this!)

Post Surgery Sandy

Notice the tongue - that's how you can tell she is really tired.

Uh-Oh

A couple of weeks ago, Marc and I smelled something funny in the house. So we were checking hineys to make sure everyone was clean (always a fun job) when we noticed a lump on Sandy's tail. It is right at the base, where the tail meets the body.

Today the vet removed the lump and sent off for testing. (Sandy had a cancerous lump removed about 6 years ago and we are hoping this isn't a recurrence.)

The vet said Sandy did very well and everything looks good incision-wise. And while Sandy Nell is still a bit woozy from the anesthetic, I am sure she will be to her usual cranky, loving self in no time!

Marc's Birthday - The Party

Our dear friends Ed and Katherine had a little gathering at their house to celebrate the birth of the Ironman. It was a PERFECT gathering! We had good friends, cornhole and croquet.

There were two (yummy!) cakes and candles to blow out.

There were Decorations, balloons and Trip. And a party is not complete without Trip!

Marc's Birthday - The Gifts

Saturday morning, Lullabelle slept in a bit - she didn't start wagging her tail until about 6:00am. That tail hitting the endtable or headboard will quickly wake you up!

Since it was Marc's birthday, I got up before LB woke Marc and feed the dogs. But before I went back to sleep, I put Marc's gifts next to his side of the bed so he could open them when he got up.
Once awake, Marc got a little help from Lullabelle when he opened the gift from the doggies.

Sandy wondered why Marc was wearing his new bike helmet. Or why he wasn't giving her a belly rub.
Then Marc modeled his new Ohio State University board shorts - a gift from my parents. O-H!

Not a bad way to start a birthday . . .
