Head Shots

Last weekend, Marc and I took advantage of the beautiful weather to take some pictures for his comedy. Here are the two (out of so, so many) that were the best for his head shots. He looks pretty handsome - and I think it is my fabulous photography that makes him look so good!

14 Weeks

I am 14 weeks pregnant today. The tiredness and nausea are starting to fade, which is a VERY good thing. My waist has grown 2 inches and I am definitely showing.

We had another ultrasound yesterday and found out we are having a boy. We didn't expect to find out so soon, but he evidently showed the doctor his business. Now the name search begins. . .

Wanna Laugh?

Here's a bit from when Marc performed at the Laughing Skull Lounge's Open Mic night - why Marc prefers Cinemax to Strip Clubs. This was the first time Marc tried this joke out on stage and it worked pretty well!

Old Pictures I Forgot to Post, Vol. 1

These are from December , when Marc and I were in Pensacola.

Sandy usually HATES to be in a crate of any kind, but she wondered in on her own for a nap.

Dogs in hats are always funny!

A little Christmas nap, interrupted by a picture.

Latest Ultrasound Pictures

From my February 17th ultrasound

Home From Boston

Marc's conference was pretty ho-hum this year. And I didn't get to join him to take pictures with monkeys, snakes or Snooki from Jersey Shore. So his pictures were limited to the airport waiting to come home. Here's Marc's fellow advisor Liz and some of his kiddies killing time:

And here is his homecoming chair, who can evidently sleep anywhere. Including the airport floor (EWWW!)

Boston

So finally, after Marc had been in Boston for a couple of days, it snowed. And when it did, it came down hard!

Ten Years Ago Today

I adopted Sandy Nell McDonald - one of the best days of my life!

I went to the Clayton County Humane Society and in the middle of a bunch of dogs yapping and jumping, Sandy was just sitting there watching. The workers asked if I'd like to take her for a walk outside and I said yes. And once she was outside in the grass, she peed and pooped. I knew this was the dog for me! She was 2 or 3 years old when I adopted her, and she had recently had a litter of puppies, but only one survived. They weren't sure of her breed, but I have always thought she is a Corgi/Golden Retriever mix.

She is still scared of thunderstorms, fireworks, loud bangs and laundry. And when she is scared she likes to hide in small, dark places. But her hearing isn't quite as sharp as it used to be. I've actually caught her sleeping through thunderstorms instead of waking me up and shaking for hours.

And I think she fell in love with Marc before I did. And I knew he was a great guy when I saw him with Sandy.

She doesn't like to cuddle much, so it's special when she does. She gets a summer buzz cut most of the year, but I let her get fuzzy and furry in the winter. And when she is really tired, she sticks out her tongue. That's my favorite Sandy look!

Happy Doggie Birthday Sandy!

It Snowed! And We Missed It!

Last Friday, we had to go to Atlanta for the weekend. I had Arch Foundation meetings in Downown Atlanta on Satruday and the Celebration of Support - our biggest donor event - on Saturday night at the Georgia Aquarium. Marc was flying out early on Saturday with his students for a conference in Boston.

And as we were about to leave, it started to snow. Here are the pictures I took before we headed out.

And here are the pictures that our wonderful dog sitter Jessica took Friday and Saturday. We got almost four inches!

13 Weeks

I am 13 weeks pregnant today. I had a rough weekend last week. I had to be in Atlanta for work and I was sicker than I had been in a while. The rest of this week has been okay nausea-wise, but I was more tired than I've been. I think it was because I worked all weekend and didn't really have any downtime.

I went to the doctor on Wednesday (pictures of the ultrasound to come!) and they drew seven vials of blood. SEVEN!! With that blood, my doctor will do a bunch of tests, and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't nervous. I'm 35, and while I don't feel that old, I know that age comes with increased risks of problems for Baby. So Marc and I will be on edge until we get the results sometime next week.

V-Day

We celebrated Valentines Day a little early this year. I got Marc one of his favorite movies.

And Marc gave me this - I found it when I got up this morning.

I think Marc wins best and most creative gift this year.

12 Weeks

I am 12 weeks pregnant today. My nausea is almost gone, but I don't know if that is the medicine or if it is naturally gone. I still have a problem with certain smells, but it's not the constant, all consuming feeling of being car sick. I am eating a little better (more) too.

I have been in physical therapy to help strengthen my core so I can carry Baby and while the exercises are simple and easy, they can make me sore when all done at once. So I try to spread those out through the day.

There is another ultrasound scheduled for this next week and at the same appointment, I will have all the blood tests done. I am a little nervous about those, but realize I need to not stress because I have no control here.

11 Weeks

I am 11 weeks pregnant today. The nausea is much better thanks to the prescription for the doctor. As long as I take it regularly, I am good. And I am staying up a little later - I can make it to 8:30pm before going to sleep! But evidently right on schedule, I am having nightly heartburn that is killer.

My skirts and pant are getting tighter and I've shopped for some maternity clothes. But it is hard to determine how big I will get and what size I'll need in pants and skirts. And the selection in Athens is very limited. But there is some cute stuff on the Internet and I am getting excited about shopping.

I'm in the Papers - Again

Although my moment of glory is very, very small. I didn't even get a direct quote.

Marc is SO Excited

Because on May 22, he will do the Warrior Dash. What is that you ask? Well, you probably should go to the website to get a better idea, but it is "the ultimate event for thrill-seeking athletes." It looks like you jump over fire, crawl through mud, climb over walls and make your way around barbed wire fences. And at the end you get beer and a medal.

Marc and his friends Bobby and Tom have signed up to do this together, and the boys are getting excited about camping the night before and then doing the race.

I may drive up the day of and watch the mudfest. Or I may stay overnight at the Dillard House and let the heathens camp. Camping is not for ladies in the family way!
