My Co-Workers Rock

Last week, the co-workers in my office threw a shower for me. Marc came along, too, since several of them had never met him. We had the most fabulous cake - and it was really cute!

We received some wonderful gifts. Thank you to Joelle for capturing some shots as we opened them!

I feel like Marc is asking "What's this for?"

I am very excited about books for Baby. And I discovered Marc had no idea about Where the Wild Things Are until the movie came out.
And the gift from the Bossman. Baby will have fun with this one!

36 Weeks

I am 36 weeks pregnant today. And since I am so far along, I am now at the doctor weekly.

Once again, everything is right on target. I measured 35.5 weeks, have normal blood pressure and gained 3 more pounds. (Although I went to the doctor right after lunch, so a pound of that may have been my Your Pie pizza.)

I am sleeping a little better, as I can now lay on my left side with no problems. I had been limited to my right side, because laying on the left caused the blood to rush to my head and made it hard to breathe. No idea why, but it was not a good feeling. But that has stopped and the past couple of nights I have slept for over 6 consecutive hours before the dancing baby on the full bladder woke me up.

And the dogs have adapted to the bassinet in the bedroom and the moving of the dog beds - mainly by on sleeping on the dog bed nearest to me and the other sleeping in the living room. But they are just sleeping and not getting into anything (and I knock on wood as I type) so it works well.

All of Baby's clothes are washed and sorted and in drawers. The changing table is together and stocked. The diaper genie is ready for business and the CD player has lullabies on deck. We are getting ready!

Snoozin'

Lullabelle WAS sleeping, until I moved something to get a better shot. The quest for the perfect picture ruined the perfect picture. Marc and LB are still pretty cute, though.

Another Nursery Painting

Please excuse the poor picture quality and flash reflection. I was just so proud that I wanted to show you the latest painting from Marc for Baby's nursery immediately!

35 Weeks

I am 35 weeks pregnant today. And we haven't been up to much. I am relaxing and taking it easy after work and on weekends, partly because it is too hot to do anything outside and partly because I am so tired and achy. We plan to finish arranging the room this weekend so that we are all set for Baby's arrival.

And from here on out, I will be a little nervous about Baby making an early appearance. I know he really could come any day, even though I have given him strict instructions to stay put until I say otherwise!

34 Weeks

I am 34 weeks pregnant today. I went to my regular ob this week and everything is right on track. I measured about 34 weeks and Baby had a heart beat of 147. And I've gained a total of 20 pounds. We have set a tentative date for the c-section, but need to confirm it with the hospital and make sure the schedule for that day is not already full.

I've moved the bassinet into the bedroom next to my side of the bed, which called for some rearranging of the dog beds. I want to get Sandy and Lullabelle used to the change before Baby arrives. So now instead of two dogs beds parallel to my side of the bed, one is parallel on my side near the foot of the bed and one perpendicular to it at the foot of the bed.

How is it going? Well, this might take a while. So far, no one will sleep on the dog bed at the foot of our bed, only on the dog bed next to my side. So the other dog wonders around a bit more. Which means I wake up more, because the Mom Spidey Sense hears movement and wants to make sure everyone is okay.

Marc's Got Talent

Marc is really providing the decor for the nursery. I painted the walls, but Marc is giving the room some whimsy by painting some pictures for Baby. Here's the first one that he has completed - I LOVE it!

Shower or Happy Hour?

Last weekend, our Athens friends threw us a shower. From 5-7pm, it was a proper party with good food and refreshments and presents. Then at 7:02, we headed down to the basement!

This was Solomon's first time at the Thompson Bar. He loved it! (Although I'm not sure what is going on with his dad.)

Of course, in my condition, there is no consuming of adult beverages for me. Just some relaxing and enjoying the fun.

33 Weeks

I am 33 weeks pregnant today. Marc and I went to the fetal maternal specialist yesterday for the last time, and everything looks good. (Take that 35-is-old-and-therefore-I-am-high-risk! I laugh in the face of high risk!)

I was 32 weeks, 6 days and Baby measured 32 weeks, 5 days. He weighs 4 pounds, 9 ounces.

The technician and doctor both did an ultrasound, but we have no pictures to show for it. Baby just didn't want to pose. He STILL won't show us his face. The one time they kind of saw it, he had his hand right in front. Another time he was smashing his face into the placenta. But again, he had no problem flashing his business again and again.

His arms and legs and spine all look good. He is breathing and the heart and kidneys are looking fine. The technician saw even saw hair on his head, and I am taking her word for it.

3rd of July

This year, Mama and Daddy had a 4th of July party - but held it on the 3rd so more people could attend. I had so much fun that I didn't take any pictures (SO unlike me!). The ones below were "borrowed" from Mama and Aunt Esther.

My parents worked long and hard to get the house ready - even the flamingos had star-spangled bow ties.

And while Cheri and Michael weren't there, Cheri sent some festive centerpieces. We will use those well!

This picture must have been taken before everyone arrived, because I didn't see my parents sit down all day.

My cousins' kids has the BEST time. There was lots to play with and keep them occupied.

Boone had so much fun he fell asleep while playing.

During the party, there was a shower for me and Marc. All the ladies came in and we got some fabulous and much needed gifts.

Marc got into the gifts.

This is a quilt my mom made. Baby will love it!

40 Isn't Old if You're a Tree

Last Friday, we celebrated our dear friend Anne's birthday - and it was a big one. 4-0! To celebrate the occasion, Anne's family made her appropriate headwear.
And as usual, Marc was a hit with the kiddos. He spoke in his little kid voice and the adorable 3 year old requested he talk more and more.
Happpy Birthday Anne!

Presents!

After the shower was over, Marc's mom realized she hadn't given us her gift. So I let Marc open it. He was just so excited about a thermometer and nasal aspirator!

More of Marc's Funnies

32 Weeks

I am 32 weeks pregnant today. This week had a regular trip to the doctor and everything is on target and normal. I measured 31.5 weeks (which was exactly how far along I was), gained another pound, and Baby's heartbeat was 126.

I spoke with the anesthesiologist at the Hospital where I will deliver and found out I needed to know exactly where my back rod and fusion are, not just "from below my neck down about a foot." So I was able to find my old surgery records and get that information. So we are all ready for delivery! Okay, not all ready, but ready in theory.

The Godfather

Last weekend, Marc's aunt and cousin threw a shower for Baby at the LaMotte home. It was a ladies shower, and it was so nice to see Marc's extended family (hi Janette!) and see and meet the friends of Marc's mom.

My mom took lots of pictures, against my will. I just really do not want pictures of me at this stage - I feel fat. It drives Marc crazy, but makes him laugh when Mama says "Smile!" I can say no to Marc, but not to Mama.

While the ladies showered, the men went to Buffalo Wild Wings. And after the shower was over, Marc got to come back and spend some quality time with his godson Aure.
Check out the happy boy, with his parents in the background.

And here in the background, we can see the future for Baby - video games.

Seriously, this is one boy that loves to smile, loves Marc and loves the camera!
