Disney Hollywood Studio

After lunch and a nap (for all of us!) we went to Disney Hollywood Studio. 

 There's really not much there that Charlie can do.  We went to the Honey I Shrunk the Kids playground, but Charlie was the youngest one there.  We had to watch him carefully to make sure an older child didn't run over him

His favorite was a slide that he went down over and over and over and over again.  One of us had to be at the base to catch him and the other had to be at the top to help the older kids be more careful with the little man.

And when we left, there was much protesting.

Marc had gotten a fast-pass to ride the Star Wars ride, and while he rode, Charlie and I enjoyed a very good funnel cake.  Seriously, he ate half of it.

The only "ride" at this park for Charlie was the tram to and from the parking lot, which was a lot of fun for him.

Epcot

Marc's half ended at Epcot, so we decided to spend a little time at the park.  Charlie's first ride was Spaceship Earth.  He intently watched everything on the ride, and was then fascinated by the screen in the car.

You input a few details and it gives you a video about your future.  Evidentially Marc will look like he just ran a half marathon and I will have a dorky smile.

Then we went to the Character Spot, where Charlie met all the favorites.

And then we rode the Finding Nemo ride.  Charlie again paid rapt attention, but really loved the fish displays after.

Ready to go see Daddy!

On Saturday, Marc ran the Donald Duck Half Marathon.  He had to be up very early for the 5:30am start, so Charlie and I slept in and met him just as he finished the race.  All morning Charlie said "Daddy Duck! Daddy Duck!"  (Translation - My daddy is running the Donald Duck Half Marathon and I'm going to see him!)

The race begins

You could stop along the race route and have your picture made with lots of Disney characters.  Some of the lines were very long.  Marc only stopped for Phineas and Ferb, which is a favorite of Charlie's.

Charlie liked Marc's medal - it was a duck after all - but he really loved the warming blanket!

Since the race ended at Epcot, we decided to visit the park a bit. . .

18 Weeks

I am 18 weeks pregnant today.  I had a doctor's appointment on Friday, but no ultrasound.  Just a check up.  I've finally started to gain weight instead of losing it and have added 5 pounds.  The nausea is mostly gone, but it has been replaced by a nasty case of bloating and gas caused largely by a poor diet and a side-effect of the anti-vomit medication. And the reflux has begun.  But I had all these symptoms with Charlie so I am prepared - Gaviscon and Tums!  Baby's heartbeart is strong and fast.

Charlie went for his yearly visit with the pediatric cardiologist to check on his heart murmur.  It is still there but everything sounds and looks very good.  It may never bother him.  But we will go back every year for a check up.

And while we were at Disney, Charlie began to get two new teeth on his bottom jaw.  He seemed to get his first 6 teeth so fast, and then nothing for months and months.  I've watched as other kids in his class got more teeth and worried that Charlie might be the first recipient of kiddie dentures.  They've broken through the gums and are just kind of sitting there, little teeth nubs.

Post-Race

After the race, all Charlie wanted to do was eat.  He had, for the first time, two packs of fruit juice chews and a kiddie Clif bar.  Chocolate Brownie - YUM!

We all were so excited that we got to the race site early.  Charlie was looking sharp in this race number and excited to be in this new place.

Before the race, there was a man with a mic and a lot of crowd dancing. Charlie joined in and bounced and swayed.

But then Charlie tired of the dancing and decided running around was more fun.

One of his favorite parts of the day was hanging out in the shot put area.  

And then it was time to race.  And by this time, it was lunchtime and almost naptime.  A hungry and tired Charlie had already run around and played and danced, so he was ready to leave.  What was this race we wanted him to run?  Can you see Marc holding Charlie in the front center of the starting line?

Last weekend, Marc participated in the Goofy Challenge at Walt Disney World. He ran a half marathon on Saturday and then a full marathon on Sunday.  And while we were there, Charlie participated in his first race - a 100-meter dash - and we visited a couple parks.  It was too fast and so much fun.  I'm ready to go back!
